Marie Demlova received the graduate degree and the Ph.D. degree in mathematics at the Charles University in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1972, and 1979, respectively. She was an Associate Professor at the Czech Technical University, Prague since 1991, and she is a Full Professor of Applied Mathematics since 1999. She served as a Head of the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, from 1994 till 2006, and was a Vice-dean for Education from 2007 till 2013. She was a Chairman of the SEFI Mathematics Working Group from 2003 till 20é8, and is a member of the Steering Committee of SEFI MWG since. Her research includes theoretical computer science, semigroup theory, automata theory, and Mathematics education.
